Teeth and Brush – Experimenting with mark making and line.

I wanted to draw from the primary sources I have collected of the model with the plastic wrapped around her head but was growing tired of working on white paper so using relevant colours from my work I made two quick marks on the paper with paint and began the line drawing thinking about the composition of the parts of the face in relationship to the marks I had just made. I only picked out a few interesting details of the image so it wasn’t a full head or a complete drawing of a mouth making it look unfinished and unknown of what the image actually it,  It could be inviting you to look closer for you to them realise the image it quite threatening.

Do you belong here? – Plastic and paint.

A quick development piece exploring with different paints and soaked paper, sand and plastic looking at the interaction of the material I use in most of my work (plastic) and a media I don’t often work with (paints).

I do think it looks visually appealing but I’m not to interested to work on it further as of yet.

First attempt with taxidermy. (warning Graphic Image!)

Please Note: This animal was not killed for the purpose of taxidermy.

I was presented with the opportunity to try out taxidermy, (something I was interested in doing at some point but never though I would have the chance to do it). A local farmer was having a mole infestation problem and had no other choice but dispose of them permanently since the bodies were just going to be thrown on a heap I asked if I could have one.

I had bought all the tools and materials for the procedure of the taxidermy and watched several online tutorials so that it would be as successful as possible but tutorials are made to look alot easier than they are and what should have took 45 minutes, actually took a good few hours.

Unfortunately I was not able to complete the full taxidermy  and had to dispose of the animal but I had several ideas of the outcome if it had been successful.
