Escape – Shaun Project Space Exhibition/Crit.

For the Shaun Project Space exhibition, I presented Creeper, my first face cast and selected images that I took from gathering resource material.

I mentioned when previously when I was reviewing the outcome of Creeper that I though the fact that the sculpture blended with the white wall it was mounted on was a successful outcome however when displaying a collection of work that I wanted to demonstrate the links to one another, this was no longer a strong element.

The solution I turned to was to project primary sources on a large scale onto the   sculpture and wall which were very interesting, each image gave the illusion that the sculpture was reacting to it changing environment. Looking exposed in some and concealed in others.

Face Casting Part Two.

Creeper – Going Big!

After the first assessment it was suggested that I go bigger so I bought in a roll of chicken wire and began to create a larger scale version of my clay maquette.  I then chose the wrap the chicken wire with cream plastic bags and then melt around so that the plastic would thicken creating a warped blistered skin.

Once completed I moved it around for various compositions and found I preferred it mounted to the wall, my main reasons for this was that from a certain angle it looks like the sculpture is part of the wall and trying push itself through trying to escape also because I placed it higher then average head hight it created an intimidating atmosphere.

I would like to create a similar piece but much larger in scale that maybe fills the room and also has a full body to it rather that the upper torso.
